Here we have a wonderful Montblanc 244G, manufactured in Denmark between 1941 and 1954.

The issue with this fountain pen was that the spindle no longer moved up and down, even though the twist knob could still be turned. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon problem, as the carrier inside the barrel, which moves the cork carrier up and down, was made quite fragile. In this case, the small "carrier tab" had broken off.

I disassembled the pen, cleaned it thoroughly, and crafted a new carrier from hard rubber, which I then glued into the barrel.

There were visible cracks in the barrel, with one even being noticeable from the outside. I used a very fine syringe to inject a small amount of acetone into these cracks to slightly dissolve the celluloid and seal the cracks.

Finally, I reassembled the pen, including installing a new sealing cork, and polished the surfaces to a high gloss, as well as re-gilded the brass fittings.
