Here is a beautiful Montblanc 124G from the 1930s.
The fountain pen is entirely made of black hard rubber and features a lovely tie clip. The "G" in the product number indicates that a gold nib was installed. This was common before 1939, before
gold reserves were confiscated for war purposes.
There were red plastic splashes on the surface, and the nib also showed significant signs of wear. The hard rubber had turned brownish, as is typical with antique writing instruments.
After disassembling, I treated the individual parts with very fine sandpaper and polished the surfaces to a high gloss. The gold nib was cleaned, polished, and then I masked the gold edge to
apply a silver layer in the middle area, restoring the two-tone appearance.
Finally, a new ink sac was attached to the grip section with shellac, and the fountain pen was reassembled.
